Required Qualifications

• Behavioral health experience is mandatory. Candidates must have relevant experience in one or more of the following settings:
• Psychiatry or psychiatric care
• Substance use disorder or addiction treatment
• Psychiatric hospitals or outpatient psychiatric clinics
• Nurse case management
• Group homes or other behavioral health care settings
• Strong clinical or medical background, preferably with nursing or other relevant clinical credentials.
• Ability to review medical and behavioral health information, assess admission requirements, and make sound clinical determinations or recommendations.
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to provide timely assessments and recommendations, recognizing that delays can affect the patient admission process.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Conduct medical and behavioral health reviews for patients flagged by the call center during the admission process.
• Review patient information, including:
• Medical history and relevant health conditions
• Substance use and alcohol use history
• Suicidal or homicidal ideation
• Other admission requirements and level-of-care criteria
• Perform medical and clinical/behavioral health assessments simultaneously whenever possible to support an efficient review process.
• Provide timely clinical determinations or recommendations so the call center can proceed with the admission process without unnecessary delays.
• Coordinate primarily with Hickory's call center representatives rather than communicating directly with patients.
• Support an efficient, responsive review workflow to facilitate appropriate admission decisions.
