Role Overview

  • Responsible for promoting, managing and maintaining the public's view of the Agency and brands we represent
  • Leads in building and maintaining strong relationships with key media and bloggers

General Description

  • Main point of contact for all media-related efforts and/or activities
  • Initiates and oversees all communications from brands under CREO with various forms of media (broadsheets, magazines, TV, radio, online portals, and bloggers), including cultivating and managing all relationships with media representatives (key editors and reporters)
  • Develops and maintains relationships with national, regional/provincial, and foreign (FOCAP/news wires) press contacts
  • Leads in building Agency's knowledge base on PH media landscape; including proper media-targeting (depending on beat), editorial movements, and new and upcoming publications
  • Leads media pitching and press release seeding strategies for brands handled; ensures target media and bloggers in media lists are accurately fit for the story to be pitched and/or seeded, while upholding Agency-standard best practices, formats, and templates
  • Main steward of CREO Media and Bloggers Database, including monthly updating of database with emails, contact numbers, delivery addresses, birthdays, and editorial movements
  • Oversees the timely generation, updating, and submission of all publicity reports (daily, weekly, and/or monthly)
  • Responsible for meeting traditional PR KPIs depending on the agreement per brand handled
  • Upholds high standards of excellence in media relations and team management
  • Leads in providing multiple solutions to media-related issues
  • Manages a team of Media Relations Officers; directly reports to the Media Relations Director

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven track record in traditional PR and media relations; with at least 2-3 years of media relations experience in a PR agency setting
  • Proven experience in building strong relations with key editors, reporters, anchors, and bloggers across multiple beats (business and corporate, banking and finance, technology, general lifestyle, beauty and fashion, health, travel and leisure, science and environment, education, news desk, and people/events/places and bulletins)
  • Must have his/her own media clout/media database with close contacts among editors, reporters, TV anchors, and bloggers
  • Must have strong knowledge on media profiles and interests
  • Strong knowledge of the PH media landscape and up-to-date on editorial movements
  • Must be a people-person and has high capability to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders (editors, reporters, TV anchors, and bloggers)
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - and good command of the English language (i.e. correct grammar, proper pronouns, basic subject-verb agreement, professionalism in messages, concise pitch emails/SMS, etc)
  • Must be a strategic-thinker and results-driven
  • Must be analytical and a problem-solver
  • Must have sharp attention to details and great organizational skills, ability to multitask and prioritize
  • BSc/BA in PR, marketing, communications or similar field
