Mechanical Piping Engineer (Marine / Shipbuilding)

Location: Singapore

Salary: SGD 4,000 – 5,000 (Depending on Experience)

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Piping Engineer to support shipbuilding, ship repair, and vessel conversion projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, review, and coordination of marine mechanical and piping systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, classification requirements, and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Review machinery and equipment specifications to ensure compliance with project technical requirements and classification society rules.
• Interpret and address technical comments from clients, classification societies, and project stakeholders.
• Develop and review marine piping systems, including:
• Bilge and Ballast Systems
• Fuel Oil Systems
• Cooling Water Systems
• Firefighting Systems
• Sanitary Systems
• Tank Gauging Systems
• HVAC and Refrigeration Systems
• Perform equipment selection and sizing, including pumps, compressors, valves, piping materials, and fittings based on system requirements and pressure ratings.
• Coordinate with designers, vendors, and engineering teams to develop:
• Piping Schematics (P&ID)
• Machinery Space Layouts
• Equipment Installation Drawings
• Mechanical System Arrangements
• Review mechanical interfaces for major equipment such as main engines, generators, gearboxes, propulsion systems, and shafting arrangements.
• Participate in the development and review of detailed 3D ship models for production and installation planning.
• Conduct routing coordination and clash detection involving piping, HVAC, structural, and electrical systems.
• Generate Material Take-Off (MTO), piping spools, and fabrication information for production.
• Liaise with customers, vendors, and internal departments to ensure project requirements are met on schedule.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, or marine engineering environments.
• Strong knowledge of marine mechanical systems, piping systems, and shipboard equipment installations.
• Experience with 3D ship modelling, piping routing, and production engineering activities.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and engineering design software.
• Good understanding of shipbuilding processes, classification requirements, and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical coordination skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
• Willing to travel to Batam or overseas when required.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience with vessel newbuilding, conversion, retrofit, or repair projects.
• Familiarity with classification society requirements such as DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, or equivalent.
• Experience in marine HVAC, refrigeration, propulsion, machinery installation, and piping production engineering.
