About the Role
Join a growing Australian mechanical services contractor supporting commercial and residential HVAC projects across Australia.
As a Mechanical Engineer / HVAC Estimator, you will work closely with the estimating team to prepare accurate quantity take-offs, equipment schedules, and tender documentation for mechanical services projects. Your technical expertise will play a key role in delivering competitive tenders for a variety of HVAC installations.
This role is ideal for someone with Australian HVAC project experience who enjoys estimating, interpreting technical drawings, and working in a collaborative remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate ductwork and pipework take-offs from mechanical services drawings for tender submissions.
- Use Bluebeam Revu to measure and quantify ductwork, pipework, HVAC equipment, and associated mechanical components.
- Prepare equipment schedules, including air conditioning units, fans, grilles, dampers, diffusers, and other HVAC equipment.
- Review architectural, structural, and mechanical services drawings to determine project scope and identify estimating requirements.
- Prepare apartment matrices and quantity schedules for residential developments.
- Assist the estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive tender submissions.
- Interpret mechanical services drawings, specifications, and schedules with a high level of accuracy.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to clarify project requirements and resolve drawing discrepancies.
- Ensure estimating documentation is accurate, organized, and completed within tender deadlines.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Australian HVAC project experience is essential. Candidates must have experience working on commercial and/or residential HVAC projects in Australia.
- Strong understanding of both air-cooled and water-cooled HVAC systems.
- Ability to size ductwork and pipework in accordance with project requirements.
- Experience estimating both ductwork and pipework is preferred. However, candidates with strong experience in either ductwork or pipework will also be considered.
- Experience using Bluebeam Revu is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit is advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical services drawings, specifications, schedules, and tender documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to meet tender deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with an Australian-based team.
