About The Job Mechanical Engineer
PURPOSE
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of mechanical design team outputs including calculations, drawings, requisitions, and reports across assigned projects and tasks.
This role contributes to ensuring that mechanical deliverables meet vessel specifications, flag requirements (e.g., IMO High-Speed Craft Code), and relevant Classification Society standards. Work is carried out under the guidance of senior engineers and in accordance with project timelines and budget constraints.
The role requires sound technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with design teams (AP and AA/AV), production personnel, and other internal and external stakeholders. Mechanical Engineers are expected to progressively develop independence, take ownership of specific work packages, and seek guidance when required.
This role serves as a foundation for career development toward more senior or specialist engineering positions through hands-on project experience and continuous improvement.
Essential
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- B.Eng ( Mechanical Engineering)
- 5+ Years as Mechanical Engineer in marine design experience in new shipbuilding projects.
- Strong Mechanical aptitude and design skills to meet vessel specification & rules requirements.
- Strong technical skills and ability to problem solve
- Good knowledge of classification society and Flag rule requirement (DNV/BV & IMO HSC Code preferred)
- Good communication skills to coordinate with design, production and project teams in written and spoken English.
- Competence in 2D Autocad
- Competent with MS Office, Word & Excel, outlook
Desirable
- Good team and Leadership skills to lead team members
- Marine Engineering experience onboard ships
- Aluminium or Steel shipbuilding experience
- Licensed Philippine Mechanical Engineer,
- Familiarity with 3D SHIP CAD software such as (SHIPCON), Navisworks
- Familiar with Pipenet, CFD's, Spreadsheet, etc.
