General description

The Master Data Management (MDM) Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of master data across multiple domains including suppliers, customers, and materials. This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data within the ERP system, supporting operational efficiency, compliance, and strategic decision-making. The position involves processing data requests, validating critical information, leading data quality initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold data governance standards.

Key Responsibility:

Master Data Lifecycle Management

  • Handle the creation, validation, update, extension, reactivation, and deactivation of master data records in the ERP system.
  • Ensure all data entries meet internal standards and business rules before migration or activation.
  • Maintain master data across various modules including supplier, customer, and material records.

Supplier and Customer Data Management

  • Process supplier and customer data requests through internal case management tools.
  • Validate financial and legal documentation (e.g., bank details, tax forms) to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Extend supplier records to new entities, deactivate obsolete or blocked suppliers, and reactivate records when needed.
  • Monitor and maintain the integrity of critical supplier and customer data, including contractual and financial attributes.

Material and Catalogue Data Management

  • Support onboarding and validation of catalogue data and pricing templates.
  • Assist in the preparation and migration of catalogue content into the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure catalogue updates are timely and accurate.

Data Quality Assurance

  • Lead and participate in data cleansing initiatives, including de-duplication, standardization, and removal of obsolete records.
  • Perform regular audits and monitoring of master data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Work closely with data analysts and architects to analyze and improve data quality.

Governance and Compliance

  • Participate in data governance forums to discuss process improvements, standardization, and policy enforcement.
  • Act as a data custodian, ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
  • Support internal audits and provide documentation or reports as needed.

Project and Transition Support

  • Lead or support master data-related projects, including ERP implementations, migrations, and site transitions.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g. IT, Finance, and Supply Chain teams) to ensure data readiness and post-move validation.

Documentation and Knowledge Management

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of master data processes, including SOPs, workflows, and guidelines.
  • Provide training and support to internal stakeholders on master data procedures and tools.

Ad Hoc Reporting and Support

  • Generate reports and insights based on master data for business analysis and decision-making.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from stakeholders and contribute to cross-functional initiatives.

Key Interfaces:

  • ERP Systems (e.g., IFS, SAP)
  • Case Management Tools (e.g., Novacura)
  • Ticket Handling Tool (e.g., Service Now)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 25 years of experience in master data management, preferably in a global or industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and data governance principles.
  • Experience in supplier/customer onboarding, financial data validation, and catalogue management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio); SQL skills are highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Core Skills:

  • Strong understanding of master data principles and lifecycle management
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP) and case management tools
  • Experience in supplier, customer, and material data handling.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data validation and entry.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Demonstrates a strong customer service orientation by proactively addressing stakeholder needs and ensuring a positive experience.

Nice to have:

  • Basic understanding of SQL for querying and managing data.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, or similar platforms.
