Job Description
Marketing Manager (AI-Forward & Automation-Led) | Full-Time | Remote | $8-12+/hr
Location: Remote, Philippines-based candidates only
Schedule: Full-Time
Hours: 8am-6pm PST
Compensation: $8 -$12+ USD/hour depending on experience, work samples, and strength of relevant experience
Type: Long-Term | Full-Time
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Marketing Manager to own marketing for our client, a U.S.-based tax services and tax resolution company.
This is not a basic social media VA or admin role, and it is not a narrow execution-only position. You will report directly to the CEO and operate as the sole marketing hire. There is no existing marketing team, and you will have full ownership of strategy and execution, not just task completion. As the business grows, this role may expand to lead additional marketing hires.
We need someone who can manage CRM workflows, email campaigns, SMS follow-ups, funnels, landing pages, paid media, content, social media, reporting, and AI-supported marketing tasks, and who is comfortable being handed a goal rather than a fully scoped task list.
The preferred candidate has worked in a similar tax, tax resolution, accounting, financial services, legal, or professional services marketing environment. Experience marketing tax-related services is strongly preferred because the content must be accurate, credible, and responsible.
The ideal candidate has 5+ consecutive years of recent digital marketing experience and can work independently with minimal training.
About the Client
A major initial focus will be helping the client market DIYTaxRelief.com. It currently exists as a downloadable guide paired with a reformatted IRS transcript analysis, sold as a lower-cost alternative for people who cannot afford full-service tax resolution. It has little to no social media presence today.
The client is actively exploring evolving their company into a full AI-powered, self-service tool rather than a static download. This role will be involved in shaping how the product is positioned and marketed as it evolves, not only in producing content for the current version.
CRM Context
Our client's CRM (Zoho) has existing workflows and dashboards that have not been actively maintained or optimized in some time. A key first responsibility will be a full audit to identify what is working, what is broken, and what needs to be rebuilt.
What You'll Do
CRM & Automation
- Audit and rebuild CRM workflows and lead-nurture sequences as needed
- Create automated follow-up campaigns based on lead source, interest, or status
- Own segmentation, tagging, lists, pipeline stages, and campaign tracking
- Monitor automations and troubleshoot issues
- Document processes and create simple SOPs
Email & SMS Marketing
- Write, build, schedule, and track email campaigns
- Create nurture and reactivation campaigns for leads and past clients, including recovering prospects who dropped out mid-consultation
- Draft SMS follow-up, reminder, and reactivation messages
- Coordinate email, SMS, and CRM follow-up
- Track opens, clicks, replies, appointments, and conversions
Paid Media
- Take ownership of existing paid campaigns (currently Meta Ads, managed by an outside contractor being transitioned out) and identify what to keep, cut, or test
- Test and evaluate new channels and platforms as opportunities arise
- Manage budget pacing against a clear return threshold, scaling what performs and cutting what doesn't
Funnels & Landing Pages
- Own landing page performance, from structure through conversion optimization
- Create or support lead magnets such as guides, checklists, webinars, assessments, or calculators
- Improve headlines, calls to action, page structure, and conversion flow
- Identify where leads are dropping off in the funnel and fix it
Social Media & Content
- Build DIYTaxRelief.coms social media presence and content calendar from the ground up
- Research common taxpayer questions, fears, objections, and misconceptions
- Write posts, captions, carousels, FAQs, and short-form video scripts
- Create or coordinate basic branded graphics and short-form videos
- Repurpose long-form content into social media, emails, and lead magnets
- Schedule and publish content consistently
- Because this is a tax-related brand, content must be accurate, credible, and responsible. We do not want exaggerated claims, unrealistic promises, or careless AI-generated content.
AI & Reporting
- Use AI tools to support content, campaigns, research, email variations, video scripts, funnel planning, and SOPs
- Review, edit, fact-check, and improve AI-generated content before it goes live
- Maintain a simple marketing scorecard
- Provide weekly updates on work completed, results, obstacles, and next steps
First 90 Days
- Days 1-30: Full audit of the CRM, marketing assets, and current campaigns. Establish clean, reliable reporting.
- Days 30-60: Take over and optimize existing paid campaigns. Begin testing new channels and platforms.
- Days 60-90: Scale what's working, cut what isn't, based on real performance data, and present a recommended path forward.
Required Experience
- 5+ consecutive years of recent hands-on digital marketing experience
- Experience with CRM systems and marketing automation
- Experience creating email campaigns
- Experience with SMS marketing or automated text follow-up
- Experience with landing pages, lead magnets, and funnels
- Experience creating social media content for a business or brand, ideally including building a presence from zero
- Strong copywriting skills
- Professional experience using AI tools
- Canva or similar design tool experience
- Basic short-form video editing or coordination experience
- Strong written and spoken English
- Strong organization and project management skills
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of ambiguous goals, and manage multiple deadlines without close supervision
Strongly Preferred Experience
- Experience marketing for a tax, tax resolution, accounting, bookkeeping, financial services, legal, or professional services company
- Experience creating educational content for sensitive or regulated topics
- Experience writing content that is accurate, credible, and conversion-focused
- Experience marketing consultation-based services
- Experience with lead generation for service-based businesses
- Experience with paid media management and ROAS-driven budget decisions
Preferred Tools
Zoho CRM, GoHighLevel, HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, WordPress, Zapier, Make, Canva, CapCut, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Asana, ClickUp, Trello, Monday.com, or Notion
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced and current in digital marketing
- Familiar with tax, financial, accounting, legal, or professional services marketing
- Proactive and resourceful, comfortable identifying opportunities without being told
- Strong with marketing automation
- Creative but business-minded
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable using AI responsibly
- Able to work independently without needing every step explained
- Careful with sensitive business and customer information
- Reliable and responsive (this role reports directly to the CEO with no team layer in between)
