Company Description BBC Manila Marine Engineering Services is the Philippine engineering and technical support office of BBC Chartering, one of the world's leading providers of heavy lift and project cargo transportation solutions. Based in Quezon City, our team delivers specialized marine engineering, naval architecture, and transport engineering services that support complex cargo movements and global shipping operations.

As part of BBC Chartering's international network, we collaborate with engineering teams worldwide to develop safe, efficient, and innovative solutions for transporting oversized and high-value cargo across the globe.

Role Description The Marine Structural Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Quezon City. You will play a key role in developing engineering solutions for complex heavy-lift and project cargo transportation worldwide. Working closely with engineering and operations teams across the BBC Chartering network, you will perform advanced structural analyses and design transport solutions that ensure the safe handling, loading, securing, and ocean transportation of some of the world's largest and most valuable cargo.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM) for transport engineering applications.
  • Develop and assess global and local structural models for vessels, cargo support structures, grillages, and seafastening systems.
  • Perform fatigue, buckling, and structural strength assessments under transportation load cases.
  • Conduct vessel motion analyses using software such as Octopus to determine transportation accelerations and design loads.
  • Perform vessel mooring analyses to support load-out, transportation, and port operations.
  • Design and verify seafastening systems, cargo support structures, and transport grillages.
  • Develop 3D structural models using Rhino, SpaceClaim, or similar engineering software.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, and client deliverables.
  • Collaborate with naval architects, commercial teams, vessel operators, and project managers across the BBC Chartering organization.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with Classification Society requirements and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • minimum 5 years of professional experience in marine structural engineering, heavy-lift transportation, offshore logistics, or project cargo engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently on complex engineering projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required Technical Skills

  • Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA/FEM)
  • ANSYS Mechanical or equivalent commercial FEA software
  • Structural fatigue analysis
  • Buckling analysis
  • Global and local structural strength assessment
  • Vessel motion analysis (e.g., Octopus)
