Job Description

The purpose of the position is to oversee the P&I Department's responsibilities, including addressing complaints and feedback promptly, ensuring timely resolutions, and managing P&I and legal cases.

ROLES ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervise the P&I Team and ensure that each medically repatriated crew is being well attended to until the closure of the case
  • Monitor the Department's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and performance targets and collaborate with the team to devise strategies to achieve these goals effectively.
  • Monitor the status and progress of each P&I case and legal cases (NLRC/NCMB/ MARINA/ DMW)
  • Report to Top Management the progress of legal and medical cases and all other issues involving P&I, and legal cases
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of POME Clinics & Doctors, and report to Management in case of any issues
  • Communicate with Principals, Owners, Clubs, and P&I correspondents as necessary for each case
  • Monitor and approve the expenses associated with each treatment and ensure that proper pre-approval from a client is obtained before processing any payment, or if with a pre-approved budget, ensure that costs remain within the limit.
  • Review contracts, laws, and regulations related to seafarers welfare
  • Maintain a complete and accurate database of medical and legal cases and ensure proper documentation and safekeeping of all original documents for each P&I case.
  • Report to Government agencies in case of critical and significant incidents involving Filipino seafarers, if delegated by the President (except for OMWS when reporting is automatic and mandatory without a need for delegation)
  • Oversee Health and Safety/Emergency Response Team

KEY SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

Technical skills

  • Strong skills in training, facilitation, and interviewing
  • Knowledge of shipboard positions, certifications, training protocols, and routines
  • Familiarity with clients policies, rules, and requirements
  • Proficiency in Quality Management systems

Professional skills

  • Understanding of maritime laws and regulations
  • Understanding of ship fundamentals
  • Effective management, communication, leadership, and organizational abilities

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Education:

Master's Degree (Juris Doctor)

Experience:

QA & P&I Claims experience in manning company.
