Job Summary
The Shift Maintenance Engineer is a critical leader responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our industrial manufacturing equipment. This hands-on leadership role involves directly managing a team of technicians to execute preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, and conduct urgent repairs. The engineer will enforce strict adherence to all safety protocols, manage maintenance projects, and provide expert technical guidance to minimize downtime and support continuous production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a shift team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring efficient work completion.
- Perform and oversee scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and unscheduled repairs on industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex failures in mechanical, plumbing, and heating systems using technical schematics and diagrams.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in full compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Manage small-to-medium scope projects, including new equipment installations and upgrades, including the selection and oversight of external contractors.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, work orders, parts usage, and equipment history.
- Provide technical support and expertise to the production team to resolve operational issues promptly.
- Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Manage spare parts inventory for the shift and recommend necessary stock levels.
Qualifications & Skills
- Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Valid Mechanical Engineer license.
- Minimum of [3-5] years of proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Advanced hands-on knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and plumbing.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting system schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Firm understanding and practical application of OSHA safety guidelines and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in food manufacturing industry but not required
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Project management experience.
