Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mainframe Developer to design, develop, maintain, and support mission-critical applications running on IBM Mainframe systems. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical design and program specifications.
- Perform coding, unit testing, system testing, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution.
- Work on batch job scheduling, monitoring, and optimization (e.g., Control-M / CA7).
- Work on Online processing.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and documentation guidelines.
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Support system integration and deployment activities.
- Maintain system documentation and technical specifications.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM
- Strong experience with CICS and online transaction processing
- Good understanding of mainframe architecture and batch processing
- Experience in SQL and database design (DB2 preferred)
- Knowledge of job scheduling tools like Control-M, CA7, or equivalent
- Familiarity with version control tools and change management processes
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Mainframe modernization or migration projects
- Knowledge of Agile / Scrum methodology
- Experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Insurance domain
- Familiarity with tools like Endevor, Changeman, or ISPW
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
- Equivalent work experience may also be considered
