Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and clean silicon optics parts prior to polishing to remove particles, residues, or previous process contaminants.
- Operate polishing machines and equipment to achieve precise surface finish using polishing slurries.
- Perform post-polishing inspections using test glass, Zygo interferometer, or other metrology tools to verify surface quality, flatness, and defect-free parts.
- Record inspection results accurately and contribute to yield and defect trend reports.
- Handle fragile optical components carefully to avoid scratches, chips, or contamination.
- Follow SOPs, safety protocols, and cleanroom practices to maintain part integrity and process stability.
- Provide feedback on workflow improvements and assist in maintaining a clean and organized workstation.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree, college level, or equivalent experience; machining, vocational, or optics background preferred.
- Vocational or technical training in manufacturing, machining, or related fields is an advantage but not required.
- Prior experience in optics polishing, precision manufacturing, or similar environments is a plus
Skills
- Ability to operate polishing machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
- Proficient in post-polishing inspection using test glass, Zygo interferometer, or other precision metrology tools.
- Strong visual acuity and manual dexterity for handling small, delicate parts.
- Detail-oriented, quality-focused, and able to follow SOPs and work instructions accurately.
- Capable of recording inspection results and managing process data efficiently.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to machinery noise; use of protective equipment (gloves, eye protection) required.
- Repetitive hand movements and careful handling of fragile optical components.
- Work follows a shift schedule, with occasional Sunday overtime based on production demand.
- Prolonged standing while operating machines and performing inspections.
