Job Title: Loan Writer / Mortgage Broker Support

Reports To: Principal Broker

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Loan Writer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be the engine room of our loan application process. You will take the lead on analysing client financials, structuring loans, preparing compliance documentation, and managing applications from initial inquiry all the way through to settlement.

This is a fast-paced role perfect for someone who thrives on organisation, loves problem-solving, and enjoys delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Collection & Financial Analysis

  • Review client documentation (payslips, tax returns, bank statements) to verify income, living expenses, and liabilities.
  • Conduct serviceability calculations using various lender calculators to determine borrowing capacity.
  • Analyse credit profiles and identify any potential red flags early in the process.

2. Loan Structuring & Packaging

  • Research lender policies and products to find the best fit for the client's unique scenario.
  • Structure loan applications and prepare comprehensive deal notes/data entries within our CRM and lodgement platforms (e.g., ApplyOnline/NextGen).
  • Draft product comparisons and compliance documents (like Credit Proposal Disclosures) for broker review.

3. Pipeline & Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with banks, underwriters, and aggregators to track application progress and promptly resolve outstanding conditions.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, solicitors, and real estate agents to ensure a smooth path to settlement.
  • Keep internal CRM systems updated in real-time to ensure data accuracy and pipeline visibility.

4. Compliance & Quality Control

  • Ensure all applications strictly adhere to Responsible Lending guidelines, internal compliance policies, and relevant financial regulations.
  • Maintain a high-quality standard to minimise lender requests for further information (RFI).

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience in loan writing, mortgage processing, or credit analysis.
  • Education: Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking (or equivalent) is highly regarded.
  • Software Savvy: Proficiency with MyCRM software and lodgement platforms 
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of standard lending policies, credit structures, and self-employed financial statements.
  • Attributes: * An eagle eye for detail—you spot the missing digit or the undeclared liability instantly.
  • Exceptional time-management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple urgent files.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
