Literacy & Language Assessment Specialist

Role Overview

Syrex Corporation is looking for a Literacy & Language Assessment Specialist to support the implementation of literacy instruction, language assessment, and academic achievement solutions across schools and education systems.

The specialist will work across three major areas:

* Teaching Strategies (TS) – supporting literacy development, classroom implementation, teacher training, and early childhood/elementary literacy
programs.
* ETS – TOEFL & TOEIC – supporting English-language proficiency and workforce-readiness programs for schools, universities, government agencies, and other inst
itutions.
* Woodcock-Johnson V (WJ V) Achievement – helping educators and specialists understand learner achievement profiles, particularly in reading, writing, and related academic skills, and use assessment results to guide instruction and inte
rvention.
Pearson Clinical: language, communication, and literacy-related assessment support; helping convert assessment findings into school-based recommendations and intervention planning.

The position combines literacy expertise, assessment knowledge, teacher professional development, and program implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Literacy & Teaching Strategies
* Support the implementation of Teaching Strategies literacy and early learning
programs.
* Conduct teacher onboarding, workshops, coaching, and classroom implementation support.
* Help educators strengthen foundational skills such as oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and early writing.
* Assist schools in connecting literacy instruction with screening, progress monitoring, and targeted intervention.
* Develop training materials, implementation guides, lesson-support resources, and literacy intervention recommendations.

ETS – TOEFL & TOEIC
* Support the implementation of TOEFL programs for English-language proficiency and TOEIC programs for academic and workforce r
eadiness.
* Train educators, administrators, and institutional partners on appropriate use and interpretation of ETS assessments.
* Help institutions connect English proficiency results with instructional programs and learner development plans.
* Support program presentations, pilots, training activities, and institutional implementations.

Woodcock-Johnson V Achievement
* Support Syrex psychologists, psychometricians, educators, and partner schools in the educational application of the WJ V Tests of Ach
ievement.
* Help interpret achievement results from an instructional perspective, particularly in reading, written language, and academic skills.
* Translate assessment findings into practical classroom recommendations, intervention priorities, and progress-monitoring plans.
* Help teachers understand the difference between universal screening, diagnostic/achievement assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring.
* Work with Syrex's assessment team to connect WJ V findings with tools such as easyCBM, Teaching Strategies, and other appropriate instructional supports.
* Participate in case discussions and multidisciplinary planning while ensuring that clinical interpretation remains within the appropriate professional scope.

Additional Responsibilities
* Work closely with Syrex psychologists, psychometricians, early childhood specialists, SPED specialists, and implementati
on teams.
* Support pilot programs with schools, universities, and other institutional partners.
* Assist in developing Syrex literacy and language assessment pathways within the broader Syrex education ecosystem.
* Represent Syrex during trainings, demonstrations, conferences, and partner meetings.
* Maintain familiarity with current literacy research, evidence-based intervention practices, English-language assessment, and educational measurement.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Reading/Literacy Education, English, Linguistics, Special Education, Psychology, or a relat
ed field.
* Strong background in literacy instruction, reading development, English-language learning, or educational assessment.
* Experience conducting teacher training, professional development, coaching, or school implementation preferred.
* Knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction and intervention.
* Experience with standardized educational assessments is an advantage.
* Familiarity with MTSS, RTI, progress monitoring, or data-based instructional decision-making is preferred.
* Strong presentation, facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
* Comfortable working with teachers, school administrators, psychologists, and government education stakeholders.
* Willing to travel nationwide for training and implementation activities.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in any of the following is an advantage:
* Reading or literacy intervention
* ESL/EFL or English-language teaching
* TOEFL or TOEIC preparation/assessment
* Early childhood or elementary education
* Special education
* Psychoeducational assessment
* Woodcock-Johnson or similar achievement assessments
* MTSS / RTI / Data-Based Individualization
* Teacher coaching and professional development

Qualifications
Strong foundation in Literacy and Education, with experience supporting diverse learners in school or institutional settings.
Proficiency in Curriculum Development, including designing or aligning literacy programs and instructional materials to standards and learning goals.
Demonstrated Coaching skills, with the ability to mentor and train educators, facilitate professional learning sessions, and provide constructive feedback.
Excellent Writing skills for creating clear instructional resources, reports, training materials, and communication tailored to educators and stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Education, Language Education, Literacy, or a related field; advanced studies or certifications in literacy or curriculum design are an advantage.
Experience working with or within schools, government education programs, or education technology initiatives.
Ability to interpret learner data, apply evidence-based literacy practices, and adapt approaches for inclusive and differentiated instruction.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and work effectively in a hybrid environment.
