Job Description

Purpose:

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safe and compliant condition of all Lifting Equipment and the effective execution of Lifting & Hoisting operations across the organization and in all assets. This is achieved by proactively managing associated risks and ensuring full compliance with the Company's Lifting Management System (LMS).

Additionally, the role supports technical assurance activities for growth and brownfield upgrade projects, including the development and maturation of the decommissioning and restoration strategy.

The Engineering and Projects (E&P) department provides technical assurance and discipline engineering support, delivering fit-for-purpose solutions that drive business resilience, innovation, and long-term sustainability. THE ROLE

As Lifting Equipment Engineer:

  • Ensure all company-owned cranes and lifting equipment are fit for use and meet the standards and requirements outlined in Prime Energy's Lifting Management System.
  • Conduct routine inspections, certifications, and tagging of all lifting equipment, including but not limited to platform cranes, FROGs, overhead cranes, monorails, and loose lifting gear in line with Company LMS
  • Maintain integrity, consistency and completeness of data stored in SAP and other Company inspection management tool and systems
  • Provide expert technical support in the creation, evaluation and/or approval of lifting plans to ensure safety and operational integrity.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Lifting & Hoisting training programs and awareness initiatives across the organization to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Perform the planning, preparation, coordination and execution of activities related to structural and lifting Programs of all company assets, including support for projects requiring lifting operations and lifting equipment inspection and verification.
  • Update and maintain the Company Lifting Management System as a process focal point and/ or custodian
  • Lead and/ or participate in Hardware Barrier Assessment (HBA), incident investigations, root cause analysis or After-Action Review (AAR) and provide technical inputs to avoid recurrence and improvement
  • Provide detailed buying description of lifting and rigging equipment and accessories

As Work Preparer:

  • Delivers onshore campaign planning, work preparation, and offshore execution of campaigns to achieve targeted budget, scope, and schedule.
  • Provides information for the 52-week lookahead.
  • Sets and identifies schedule of equipment windows/downtime in the 52-week lookahead.
  • Creates and manages equipment calendar. Coordinates the detailed scope and execution plan within a campaign, including all interfaces with other teams. Manage work scope collection, scope challenge and selection, and working with scope owners (e.g., WPE, Discipline Engineers, Technical Authorities)
  • Management of Equipment Floating Network Orders. Responsible for changing Equipment Window schedule and Basic Start Dates of all work orders within his equipment - Planning/scoping of complex equipment Work Orders.
  • Coordinates optimization of activities including reviews, schedule and logistics optimizations, resource leveling, etc. within a campaign.
  • Reviews work packages by work preparer to ensure quality and completeness.
  • Monitor equipment campaign cost estimates and budget.
  • Responsible for PM and CM Compliance on all related WOs under his work center. Responsible for ensuring timely execution of activities vs. Latest Allowable Finish Date (LAFD). Timely raising of LAFD extensions/deferrals via identified CMMS/AIMS deferral process.
  • Compliance to Maintenance Execution (MEx)-related processes identified in Prime Energy's Asset Management System Perform Maintenance Execution (AMS PME)
  • Responsible for Work Preparation Quality and compliance to MIAPS Nomination Quality and Activity Readiness (AR) Criteria.
  • Works closely with operations to ensure proper integration within a campaign. Liaise with Operations OMC, and Frontline Maintenance Teams to address current equipment concerns.
  • Contract Holder or contract site representative for Lifting related contracts

As part of the team/ larger community; the following are expected:

  • Promote the Company HSSE culture to ensure continuous HSSE improvement and safe execution of all lifting operations
  • Manage contractor relationships and behavior in line with Company values and code of conduct
  • Undergo the Technical Authority (Lifting & Hoisting) assessment programs
  • Ability to influence operational expenditure on Lifting Equipment maintenance, optimization, life extension and obsolescence management
  • Regular coordination with other E&P disciplines, Maintenance, Operations and HSSE under COO directorate
  • Develop and train junior engineers in lift planning preparations and technicians in the art of Lifting equipment management and inspection acceptance criteria
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and eliminate waste as a Late Life Asset
  • Support Technical Assurance initiatives and other opportunities as required by Line Manager
  • Learner's mindset with good grasp of continuous improvement
  • Work mobilization to offshore platform, on-board vessel and other challenging locations requiring 100% medically fit

  • Number of Staff: 0
  • Financial accountability: None; however, prudent ownership of projects, opportunities and/ or continuous improvement initiatives contributing to overall management of Technical Assurance and Structural team budget
  • External Relationships: Working with external SME's, contractor partners, inspection and certification bodies, Professional association/ communities
  • Approx. Office (60%) and Site (40%)

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • Bachelor's degree: either in Civil, Mechanical or Marine Engineering preferably with Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification;
  • Skill level in lifting engineering, lifting operations, lift planning and lifting equipment selection and inspection
  • Skill level in the application of industry standards and codes of practices related in Lifting & Hoisting
  • Minimum working knowledge on Maintenance Processes (work planning, scheduling and execution). Skill level is a plus, strong experience in Company's maintenance processes (ie. WPSE, etc.)
  • Minimum 8 years experience in Lifting engineering and/ or Lifting equipment inspection in the oil and gas industry
  • Offshore and brownfield project experience is a plus
  • LEEA Inspection Certification and other recognized Lifting Equipment inspection qualifications
  • Capability to work seamlessly within and across teams under considerable time pressure and challenging work environment with competing priorities
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Open to a two (2) year contract
