Job Description

24 Customs is a growing Australian customs brokerage providing customs clearance and consultancy services to freight forwarders and logistics businesses across Australia.

We are curently looking to expand our offshore team in the Philippines. Preferred who have experience working for an Australian customs brokerage or freight forwarding

About the Role

This role will support our Australian licensed customs brokers with the preparation and processing of Australian import clearances.

You will work directly with our Australian team and handle a high volume of shipments across air freight, LCL and FCL.

The ideal candidate will already have experience working with an Australian customs brokerage, freight forwarder or logistics company and understand Australian customs clearance processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare customs clearance files for Australian imports
  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and air waybills
  • Perform data entry and prepare information for customs declarations
  • Assist with tariff classification research
  • Assist with Free Trade Agreement and country-of-origin assessments
  • Review Certificates of Origin and supporting documentation
  • Assist with customs valuation calculations
  • Identify shipments requiring additional customs or biosecurity review
  • Assist with DAFF/BICON assessments and documentation
  • Prepare clearance instructions and supporting documents
  • Monitor customs and biosecurity clearance status
  • Liaise with the Australian brokerage and operations teams
  • Communicate with clients and freight forwarders where required
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation
  • Escalate complex or uncertain matters to the Australian Licensed Customs Broker
  • Assist with continuous improvement, automation and process development

All activities must be performed in accordance with 24 Customs procedures and applicable Australian customs-broker licensing and compliance requirements.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Previous experience in Australian customs brokerage, freight forwarding or import operations
  • Good understanding of Australian import clearance processes
  • Experience reviewing shipping and commercial documentation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Strong computer skills
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple shipments
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume environment

Highly Regarded:

  • Experience preparing Australian customs entries
  • Experience using Australian customs brokerage software
  • Knowledge of Australian tariff classification
  • Knowledge of Australian Free Trade Agreements
  • Experience with DAFF/BICON
  • Experience with food, beverage, cosmetics, machinery or other regulated commodities
  • Experience working directly with Australian customs brokers or freight forwarders
