Performs tasks related to library technical services, including but not limited to:
Cataloging and classifying library materials
Maintaining an accurate, up-to-date database of library holdings
Physically processing items being added to and withdrawn from the collection
Performs archival work related to the long-term preservation and provision of access to special collections
Prepares bibliographies and guides, as well as other instructional and research tools, to enhance access to materials
Library User Support
Conducts comprehensive orientations for library users, both informally and formally at the start of the academic year for undergraduate and graduate students
Provides ongoing assistance and services to individuals seeking help throughout the day, fostering a supportive and inclusive library environment
Provides Reader's Advisory Services by directing individuals to materials (print, non-print, electronic) likely relevant to their research interests, suggesting potential sources of information needed, and offering on-the-spot instruction for navigating challenging library resources
Responds to reference queries in person, by phone, email, or other communication channels, and offer research assistance and information retrieval support
Section Management Support
Assists in the supervision of the planning, implementation, and monitoring of programs and activities that support the functions and services of the section
Collaborates with other library sections, University offices, organizations, and associations to support library operations, information services, and information literacy initiatives
Assists in the development and maintenance of the library section's operations manual, ensuring that policies and procedures are documented and updated as necessary
Maintains order within the library, preventing vandalism, theft, and other disruptions
In the absence of the Section Head, oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the section
Performs other related duties required by the immediate supervisor and/or authorized representatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Library Operations and Standards: Demonstrates knowledge of library operations and the current trends/issues in librarianship, including information literacy, intellectual freedom, and copyright laws while exhibiting adherence to industry standard
Library Management Software Familiarity: Proficient in utilizing library management software or systems for efficient workflow management
Decision-Making Skills: Proficient in analyzing complex situations, weighing options, and making informed decisions to achieve desired outcomes
Technological Savvy: Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, Windows or OSX operating systems and other Internet applications
Task Management and Prioritization: Demonstrates the capability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and identify work priorities efficiently
Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in tasks
Effective Communication Skills: Proficient in communicating effectively both orally and in writing to convey information clearly and concisely to all stakeholders

Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science
