  • The position is responsible for providing legal, corporate secretarial / housekeeping, research, and oversee administrative support to the in-house lawyers
  • He/She is responsible for providing comprehensive support to in-house lawyers, encompassing legal, corporate secretarial, research, and administrative functions. The individual in this position plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the legal team, combining legal expertise with organizational skills to support various aspects of the department's work.

Qualifications

  • Recent Bar Exam passer (2023 up)
  • Graduate with a degree in Juris Doctor / Ll.B.
  • Prior experience (as OJT/ paralegal) in a law firm, legal services company or in an in-house law department of a reputable company

Responsibilities

  • Support the Corporate Secretary in corporate housekeeping functions, such as drafting basic minutes of the meetings, preparation of prepare board materials; with minimal oversight supervision, and in ensuring ensures that all regulatory reportorial requirements are tracked and fulfilled completely and on time.
  • Act as Assistant Corporate Secretary as may be formally deputized by the Corporate Secretary
  • Accountable as lead counsel in setting up of Sun Life PH Legal Database to be identified by the Associate General Counsel for Legal Operations (i.e. Regulatory, Litigation, Opinion, and Contract DB) ) and assisting the Legal Operations Team in maintaining and cascading the DBs to the relevant business units
  • Coordinate the process of submission / approval of policies and operating guidelines of the relevant companies of Sun Life PH. Liaise with the sponsors and Committee members for the completion of the task.
  • Support the Legal Operations Team's business unit support functions in the review and preparation of simple contracts and marketing materials, affidavits, demand letters, SPAs, and other basic agreements.
  • Assist the lead counsel for litigation in monitoring cases, drafting documents, attend mediation proceedings / simple court proceedings, and liaising with external counsel for all Sun Life PH cases.
  • Monitor and compile new regulations and jurisprudence and ensure compliance with any requirements with minimal supervision from the Associate General Counsel for Legal Operations
  • Perform such other tasks that may be assigned by the Associate General Counsel for Legal Operations and/or General Counsel.
