Job Description

Our client in the BPO space is searching for a Legal Manager who will be responsible for providing legal services to the company including contract preparation and review, legal opinion on labor-related issues, contractual obligations, and general corporate law.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate with external parties (vendors, government agencies, company legal counsel)

Serve as the company's official representative on any labor litigation and criminal litigation cases, unless otherwise directed.

Work in tandem with HR Business Partners in developing policies and procedures, e.g. grievance procedures, due process, exit interviews, and in all such circumstances, ensuring compliance to labor laws.

Serve as the in-house expert on labor and as such, is expected to research, develop and educate/train HR professionals and line management with regards to labor laws and other pertinent legal related matters affecting the business.

Has ownership with regards to providing legal updates to the HR team. May serve as Corporate Secretary for the Community Board.

▪ Conduct research, designs and develops courses and facilitates learning sessions for Human Resources team members and organizational leaders to ensure knowledge and compliance of the implementing guidelines of the company policies and to adequately address labor-related HR issues in both corrective and preventive manner.

Provide updates on current legal and jurisprudential developments that will potentially affect the company.

 Keep abreast of all updates, changes to labor laws and any implementing guidelines. Will ensure that all stakeholders are updated – HR professionals and leadership.

▪ Conduct regular audits to ensure company policies and procedures, employment contracts and vendor agreements, ensuring compliance to legal requirements.

▪ With regards to external complaints with NLRC and DOLE, the incumbent will act as the first point of resolution for labor-related issues and concerns. Coordinate with the HR professionals (HR BP, Comp& Ben or Talent Acquisition) for updates and next steps on ongoing and active labor cases.

▪ Conduct ongoing legal research, draft legal opinion and contracts as well as document preparation for labor or criminal litigation and other contractual agreements that the company enters into. This includes any kind of legal requirements for filing with NLRC or DOLE.

▪ Serve as primary point of contact for the company leadership team (e.g. Finance or HR) with regards to vendor contract review and negotiations in case there are matters in conflict with regards to contractual obligations.

▪ May serve as Corporate Secretary of the Community Board. As such, is expected to attend all board meetings and events, likewise transact all legal related matters pertaining to the board and his/her position as the board's Corporate Secretary.

Qualifications:

▪ Bachelor's/College Degree , Post Graduate Diploma / Master's Degree

▪ Professional License (Passed Board/Bar/Professional License Exam) in Law or equivalent

▪ 6-8 years relevant experience legal experience in a global BPO, KPO, or Shared Services/GCC companies

▪ Above Average problem-solving and decision making skills.

▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

▪ Excellent public presentation skills.
