Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and licensed Legal Manager to oversee the provision of comprehensive legal services for the company. This critical role encompasses contract preparation and review, providing legal opinions on labor-related issues and contractual obligations, and managing general corporate law matters. The Legal Manager serves as the company's official representative in labor litigation and criminal litigation cases (unless directed otherwise). This position also requires collaboration with HR Business Partners to develop policies and procedures (such as grievance procedures, due process, and exit interviews) to ensure strict compliance with labor laws, acting as the in-house expert on labor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Counsel & Compliance: Conduct ongoing legal research, draft legal opinions and contracts, and prepare necessary documentation for labor or criminal litigation and other contractual agreements.
  • Labor Expertise: Act as the in-house labor expert by conducting research, designing courses, and facilitating learning sessions for Human Resources team members and organizational leaders to address labor-related HR issues and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Regulatory Oversight: Keep abreast of all updates and changes to labor laws and implementing guidelines, ensuring all stakeholders, including HR professionals and leadership, are updated.
  • Auditing and Review: Conduct regular audits to ensure company policies, procedures, employment contracts, and vendor agreements comply with legal requirements.
  • External Relations: Coordinate with external parties, including vendors, government agencies, and company legal counsel.
  • Dispute Resolution: Act as the first point of resolution for external complaints with NLRC and DOLE, coordinating with HR professionals for updates and next steps on active labor cases.
  • Contract Negotiation: Serve as the primary point of contact for Company leadership (e.g., Finance or HR) regarding vendor contract review and negotiations when there are conflicts related to contractual obligations.
  • Board Involvement (Optional): May serve as Corporate Secretary of the Community Board, which involves attending board meetings and events, and transacting all related legal matters.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Professional License (Passed Board/Bar/Professional License Exam) in Law or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's/College Degree, Post Graduate Diploma/Master's Degree.
  • 6-8 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent public presentation skills.
  • Above Average problem-solving and decision-making skills.
