Legal Counsel
(Role based in Myanmar)
The Legal Counsel will perform variety of in-house legal activities including but not limited to reviewing and preparing legal documents, managing contract management database and liaising with external legal counsels. Successful candidate is also expected to support and facilitate the work of the management team by identifying and managing legal risks to Heineken's interests in Myanmar and using best endeavours to ensure that all business activities are carried out in compliance with relevant laws, Heineken policies and strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Providing a full range of legal support and advice to all functions
- Assisting in the review and/or drafting of legal documents (including but not limited to supply agreements, sponsorship agreements, tenders and procurement agreements, memorandums of understanding, letters of appointment, intellectual property agreements and service level agreements) and advising on the same;
- Working with other departments within the company on the housekeeping of contracts;
- Securing and maintaining ownership of trademarks, design rights and other intellectual property rights in all brand materials generated in Myanmar and usage rights to non-owned materials used in Myanmar.
- Advising on competition/anti-trust, bribery, corruption, data protection and other compliance matters, to ensure commercial activities in Myanmar are legally compliant.
- Working with other departments within the company to educate, implement, promote and enforce group policies such as Code of Business Conduct, Anti-Bribery and HeiRules;
- Regular updating of contract management database and ensure proper filing system for easy retrieval;
- Investigating potentially contentious matters (including but not limited to obtaining facts and evidence);
- Managing litigation matter and Intellectual Property assets of the company;
- Liaising with external counsel and the Company Secretary where required;
Experience & Qualifications:
- University degree/Masters in LL.B. and/or LL.M.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience in general commercial private practice or in-house position. Candidates with experience in FMCG or F&B Industry will be considered favourably.
- Good knowledge of contract/business law, competition law, company law.
- Strong communication skills, good command of spoken and written English
- Strong analytical and legal skills
- Good with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint Presentation, Outlook & etc)
- Must be willing to relocate to Myanmar

Technically accomplished lawyers that have the following expertise:
- Significant and relevant post-qualification experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial and corporate agreements.
- Commercial - reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements and providing legal advice on business issues. Agreements include: supplier, distribution, software licensing and outsourcing, procurement, major IT outsourcing projects
