Job Description

Job Responsibilities

Draft, review, revise, and advise on business contracts, corporate documents, labor/employment matters, taxation issues, and other daily legal matters.

Conduct thorough research on local laws, regulations, and industry updates to provide accurate legal opinions and strategic guidance to the management.

Act as the company's legal counsel and liaise with regulatory bodies, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and the NPC, to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including handling regulatory submissions, correspondence, and audits.

Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks in business operations, particularly in relation to consumer protection, data privacy, and digital lending transactions.

Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (e.g., product, finance, operations, compliance) to provide proactive legal support for new products, business models, and market initiatives.

Independently draft and maintain compliance manuals, internal policies, and staff training materials consistent with the Philippine regulatory framework (including SEC, BSP, AMLC and NPC requirements).

Provide compliance advisory support to business departments, covering regulatory obligations, risk mitigation strategies, and legal-compliance operational coordination.

Monitor regulatory developments (e.g., circulars, memoranda, and advisories issued by the SEC, BSP, AMLC and NPC) and assess their impact on the company's business.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and a valid Philippine Bar license (in good standing).

4 to 5 years of legal work experience, preferably in a law firm or inhouse environment. Experience in fintech, consumer finance, or online lending is highly preferred. At least 3 years of compliance work experience in the financial industry.

Strong understanding of local laws and regulations, including but not limited to financial regulations, consumer protection laws, data privacy rules, and digital lending transactions.

Clear contract drafting skills, sharp legal research abilities, and strong negotiation skills.

Highly responsible, detailoriented, and an excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and working independently in a fastpaced environment.

Prior experience working in a multinational company or joint venture is an advantage.

In-depth understanding of Philippine financial regulations, including the Anti-Money Laundering Act (Republic Act No. 9160, as amended) and related BSP, SEC and AMLC compliance requirements.

Possession of a recognized AML/CFT compliance certification (e.g., a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist credential) is an advantage.

Fluent in English (spoken and written) for regulatory and legal communication.

Demonstrated ability to independently handle statutory compliance filings and reporting obligations, such as SEC periodic filings (e.g., General Information Sheet and Audited Financial Statements), BSP regulatory reports, AMLC covered/suspicious transaction reporting, and NPC data privacy registration and annual compliance filings.
