Overview

We are seeking a talented Lead WordPress Web Developer to join the Mediboost team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across all aspects of WordPress — from building and customising template-based sites and making updates and edits, to managing smooth site launches, migrations, and hosting/domain transfers.

You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative team where your technical expertise will have a direct impact on client success. You'll also play an important part in communicating with clients or their previous IT providers when needed to ensure smooth transitions.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of WordPress developers, providing technical guidance and conducting code reviews.
  • Set and enforce development standards, workflows, and best practices across the team.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for complex projects, escalations, and client-facing discussions.
  • Build and customise WordPress websites using themes, templates, and page builders (Elementor, Divi, WPBakery, etc.).
  • Customise template-based websites to match client branding and functionality requirements.
  • Perform and oversee website edits and updates, including content, layouts, and functionality improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues such as plugin conflicts, broken layouts, and performance challenges.
  • Oversee full site migrations — staging to live, domain transfers, hosting transfers, and DNS setup.
  • Optimise websites for speed, security, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Document processes, maintain accurate records, and ensure smooth handovers.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and project managers to deliver high-quality results.
  • Liaise directly with clients or their previous IT providers to coordinate migrations and technical handovers.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with WordPress development.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience, managing or mentoring developers, overseeing project delivery, or leading technical teams.
  • Proven ability to lead code reviews, set development standards, and guide junior and mid-level developers.
  • Strong knowledge of hosting environments (cPanel, Plesk, FTP, SSH) and DNS management.
  • Solid skills in HTML, CSS, and PHP (basic JavaScript knowledge a plus).
  • Confident in customising template-based websites and working with page builders.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, third-party IT providers, and internal stakeholders when required.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and team priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable leading independently while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices.
  • Knowledge of security and optimisation techniques.
  • Use time-tracking tool that monitors activity and captures periodic screenshots

Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with SEO best practices.
  • Knowledge of security and optimisation techniques.
