Job Overview
The Lead Instructional Designer (Learning & PM Capability Transformation) is a strategic role designed to revolutionize how our Localization Project Operations (LPO) team operates. Rather than just managing training requests, this leader will architect, build, and scale a world-class Project Management capability framework.
You will partner with executive stakeholders and process improvement teams to identify skill gaps, design bleeding-edge learning ecosystems, and drive the operational maturity of our PMs. If you are a transformational leader who blends the art of instructional design with the rigor of strategic change management, this role is your canvas.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Learning Leadership & Capability Transformation
- Define the PM Maturity Framework: Design, implement, and continuously evolve a comprehensive Project Management Competency Framework tailored specifically for modern Localization workflows.
- Drive Change Management: Act as a core transformation agent, ensuring that new operational processes and PM methodologies are seamlessly adopted across all PODs through targeted learning interventions.
- L&D Road mapping: Proactively consult with LPO leadership to align learning initiatives with long-term business goals, shifting the training team from a reactive order-taker model to a proactive strategic partner.
2. Instructional Design & Ecosystem Innovation
- End-to-End Curriculum Architecture: Own the lifecycle of high-impact learning programs—from initial business case and scoping to incubation, delivery, and continuous optimization.
- Modern Learning Modalities: Move beyond traditional decks. Design blended learning ecosystems incorporating simulations, gamification, micro-learning, role-playing, and interactive sandbox environments for PM tools.
- Process Team Synergy: Partner deeply with the Process/Continuous Improvement teams to translate complex process optimization frameworks into intuitive, scalable training methodologies.
3. Impact Measurement & Stakeholder Governance
- Data-Driven Evaluation: Establish robust metrics (beyond smile sheets) to measure training effectiveness, tracking behavioral changes and operational ROI (e.g., reduction in project escalations, improved margin accuracy).
- Stakeholder Influence: Conduct high-level alignment and white-boarding sessions with cross-functional leaders to manage expectations, navigate resistance, and report on transformation milestones.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent scaled professional experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Instructional Design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or strategic capacity within a Project Management, BPO, or Localization environment – or equivalent.
- Methodology Alignment: Preferably with familiarity with instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM) combined with project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, PMP, or Lean Six Sigma).
- Operational Flexibility: Agility to work in a hybrid model, navigate rotational schedules, and align with US business hours as required.
Technical & Leadership Skills
Advanced Leadership & Analytical Skills
- Transformational Mindset: Proven track record of scaling a team's capability or transforming an operational workflow through structured learning.
- Root-Cause Analytics: Advanced capability to dissect operational failures, analyze complex data sets, and engineer systemic training interventions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Influence & Collaboration: Exceptional communication and facilitation skills; bulletproof confidence when leading alignment sessions with multi-functional key players.
Design & Tech Stack Expertise
- Modern Authoring Tools: Mastery of standard productivity suites (Google Workspace) plus experience with LMS platforms, e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline/Rise, Captivate), and visual design tools.
- Agile Content Development: Ability to deliver high-quality, iterative learning assets under tight timelines within a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Attributes but not required:
- Localization Domain Expertise: Strong understanding of the Localization industry lifecycle (e.g., Continuous Localization, TMS/CAT tools, LSP management, translation memories, and AI/MTPE workflows). This is highly preferred to ensure immediate credibility with senior PMs.
