Your Role:
- Monitoring of daily/monthly production jobs (advert, editorial, classified run, layout/flat plan)
- With direction from design management, provide support in monitoring workload and process, design tools to ensure timelines and business objectives are met.
- Provides experiences and mentorship to design staff. Influences project direction by acting as an integral part of the design team by providing oversight and guidance for all deliverables, facilitating internal sign-offs with leadership. You will work closely with the Design Team Manager to ensure the design intent is met and the user experience is of the Highest Quality.
- With direction from design management, assigning projects to design staff as needed and oversees workload.
- Ensure that customer service, both internal and external, is of the highest standard at all times.
- Communicate professionally at all times on behalf of Star News Group
- Maintain strict confidentiality on all matters relating to Star News Group
- Roll out new processes or procedures as part of the Star News Group senior leadership group.
- All other task assigned as needed by the Design Team Manager and as required by the Creative Services Department.

Targets and Performance:
- Effectively coordinate all design deliverables and follow projects from assignment through successful completion and ensuring quality sign-offs. This includes, but is not limited to layouts, design packages, pictures processing, bleed management, graphic design quality documentation and general commercial work.
- Coordination with Design Management of all design disciplines on graphic designers, editorial layout to design, coordinate, and execute multiple simultaneous quality task in-line with Star News Group brand standards and best practices.
- Coordinate with offshore managers and designers on assigned projects.
- Provide mentorship, support, coaching and direction to members of the design team, including a review on their work and monthly performance reviews.
- Be a key member of a collaborative management team, working closely with Design Team Manager by instituting documents and project management standards to ensure all design scope and deliverables comply with the companyu0027s rules and guidelines.
- Communicate project updates regularly to management and cross-functional teams such as the status of each task, potential issues, risks, etc.
- Ensure design deliverables adhere to any quality assurance policies and procedures for design, documentation and project management.
- Collaborate with Design Manager in keeping daily and commercial tasks within the target deadlines and proactively flag any design deliverable issues that may
arise during the entire project, to take ownership of them, and to work together to resolve them.
- Second in command to lead onsite and external team meetings as needed, providing clear, concise and actionable agendas and communication.
- Interview and provide feedback on select applicants to the Design Team Manager and provide monthly training performance reviews for new hires.
- Issue Weekly, Monthly, performance reviews and coaching requirements and exercise performance management.

Reporting and Monitoring:
- Collaborate with Design Team Manager within Design and across the product creation matrix to increase efficiencies and ensure design excellence
- Work with various department within the local team and offshore team to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the agreed changed processes
- Facilitate creative review meetings, including internal team meetings/trainings and work sessions
- Second in command with the development / improvement, implementation and management of policies and/or processes.
- Troubleshooting of ads and pages in the systems to ensure products are submitted correctly and timely.
- Direct reporting to Star News Group Design Team Manager proactively manage and resolve calendar conflicts due to scheduling shifts, staffing requirement and leave shrinkage.
- Sending of end of day reporting on the team daily completion sent to the Design Team Manager

Training:
- Collaboration with Team Management and creation of training plans to enhance skills and competencies
- Create an environment that supports mentoring and coaching to support development, growth and high performance.
- Identify potential future talent within the Star News Group to support retention strategies.

Backup point of contact for Design Team Manager on:
- Overseeing daily operations -ensures that all deadlines are met through proper staffing, scheduling of deadlines, and delegation. This is one of the most essential parts of the day to day task in production.
- Production essential tools management - create all production essentials according to the specifications needed across Creatives, Sales, Editorial Team and Press Site.
- Quality Control - Maintains standards in products before printing and publishing. Creative team processes should regularly be visited to avoid any misalignment in the understanding of procedures. All errors should always be recorded for reporting and for discussion.
- Creative Direction -Develops design ideas according to certain specifications and requests and guides designers to interpret this through the artwork. Designs must be filtered to make sure that the team is producing effective and pleasing artworks.
- Publication schedules - Sets deadlines for each special publications and weekly deadlines for holiday and ensure that the dates are workable within the capacity of the creative team. This could be very challenging especially when there are movements of schedules due to low revenue of the sales.
- Communications and Coordination - Communicates all necessary matters such as but not limited to deadlines, requests, specifications, concerns, the process to the involved individuals. This also involves organizational skills as there are plenty of emails coming in a day.
- General commercial and non-commercial - Monitors all the assigned tasks are submitted within the deadline and standard specifications.

- Planning and strategies - Develop plans such BCP, team motivational activities (incentives, team-building) additional headcount, movement or changes of roles, etc.
- Hiring and Staffing - Identifying, assessing, and hiring candidates to fill open positions.
