Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python
- Manage and optimise PostgreSQL databases, including complex queries
- Deploy and maintain systems using AWS services
- Implement containerised solutions using Docker
- Orchestrate workflows using Airflow
- Lead a small team of engineers (3–5 members)
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers
- Prioritise tasks and manage multiple concurrent workstreams
- Ensure accountability, ownership, and delivery quality across projects
Core Requirements (Must-Have)
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering
- Strong proficiency in Python (primary language for pipelines and tooling)
- Advanced experience with PostgreSQL
- CTEs
- Window functions
- Hands-on experience with AWS, including:
- S3
- EC2 / ECS
- RDS
- Lambda
- Experience with Docker for containerised deployments
- Strong experience using Apache Airflow
- Proven experience designing and maintaining ETL/data pipelines at scale
- Experience leading a small engineering team (3–5 engineers)
- Comfortable conducting code reviews and mentoring
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and proactive mindset
