The Chinese Language Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate Mandarin Chinese lessons to students in an on-site, face-to-face school setting. The teacher will support students in developing their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while fostering an appreciation and understanding of Chinese language and culture.
Tasks
- Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered Mandarin Chinese lessons.
- Provide on-site, face-to-face instruction to students.
- Adapt teaching strategies and materials to accommodate different ages, abilities, and learning levels.
- Develop appropriate lesson plans, activities, exercises, and learning materials.
- Assess and monitor students progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Incorporate Chinese culture, traditions, and real-life language use into lessons where appropriate.
- Maintain appropriate classroom management and student engagement.
- Communicate professionally with school staff regarding students learning and progress.
- Participate in relevant school activities, meetings, and events as required.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, and student progress.
- Perform other teaching-related duties as reasonably assigned by the school.
Requirements
- Native Mandarin Chinese speaker or equivalent level of fluency.
- Excellent spoken and written Mandarin Chinese.
- Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language, Education, Linguistics, or a related field preferred.
- Teaching qualification, certification, or relevant teaching experience is an advantage.
- Previous experience teaching children or school-aged students preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to prepare engaging and age-appropriate lessons.
- Patient, enthusiastic, adaptable, and student-oriented.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff.
- Willingness and ability to teach on-site and face-to-face in a school setting.
