We're looking for an experienced Landscape CAD Draftsperson with strong construction documentation skills and 3D rendering capability to join our growing team. With hands on Vectorworks experience.
ABOUT THE COMPANY:
The client is a Melbourne-based landscape design studio, specialising in native and climate-adaptive gardens for residential clients across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. The company's philosophy is simple: every project starts with a clear plan that resolves layout, levels, materials, and planting before anything is built - so construction happens without guesswork, miscommunication, or costly rework.
The studio's process runs in two stages: a concept report developed locally with the client, followed by detailed construction drawings. They're growing the team to bring the construction drawing stage in-house on an offshore basis, freeing up our local design team to focus on new client work while drawings progress in the background.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
We're looking for a skilled CAD draftsperson to take finalised landscape design concepts and turn them into accurate, buildable construction drawing sets. This is a genuine long-term team role, not a one-off gig - we're investing in someone who wants to grow with the business, not just complete tasks.
The ideal candidate is confident in producing both construction drawings and photorealistic renders, giving us a single point of contact who can carry a project from concept through to construction-ready documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Convert approved concept designs into detailed, accurate construction drawing sets (setout plans, levels, sections, details, planting plans, and material schedules).
- Work primarily in Vectorworks to ensure drawings are consistent with the client's existing file standards and templates.
- Produce photorealistic or presentation-quality renders to support client approvals, where required.
- Liaise with the Founder and the local design team to clarify design intent, resolve details, and incorporate feedback.
- Maintain drawing accuracy for levels, drainage falls, and material junctions so drawings are genuinely buildable on site.
- Manage your own workflow and deadlines across multiple concurrent projects, flagging risks or delays early.
- Keep drawing files, layers, and naming conventions organised and consistent across projects.
Requirements
- Proven, verifiable proficiency in Vectorworks is required.
- Background in landscape architecture, landscape design, or architectural drafting, ideally with residential project experience.
- Understanding of construction documentation: setout, levels, sections, details, and materials - not just drafting for visual presentation.
- Rendering skills (e.g. Lumion, Enscape, Twinmotion, or similar) are a strong advantage.
- Strong written English for clear communication with the Australian-based team.
- Reliable internet connection and the ability to work overlapping hours with an Australian (Melbourne, AEST/AEDT) team.
What We're Looking For
Technical skill matters, but it's not the only thing we're hiring for. We value:
- Genuine attention to detail - drawings that are accurate the first time, not just close enough.
- Strong work ethic and reliability - someone who owns their workload and communicates proactively.
- A long-term mindset - we're looking to invest in this role and grow it over time, not treat it as disposable outsourced labour.
- Honesty about your actual skill level and software experience - we'd rather know upfront than discover gaps later.
Benefits
- Full time - Remote/WFH
- Australian client / Dayshift
- Competitive Salary
