I. JOB OVERVIEW

As Laboratory Analyst, he/she is responsible in performing NIR analysis and chemical analysis as prescribed in the Work Instruction Manual and operate laboratory equipment according to the Equipment's Operation Manual. He/She is responsible to monitor trend of analysis and report any deviation to the Laboratory Supervisor.

Ii. Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assess and segregate samples for analysis based on the quality control plan.
  • Conduct required wet chemistry and mycotoxin analyses of raw materials, finished products, and special samples in accordance with established laboratory procedures and work instructions.
  • Verify the accuracy of test results using ring trial quality control samples or internal quality control samples.
  • Plot quality control sample results on monitoring charts and track performance trends.
  • Report any quality control trends that fall outside established limits to the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents, perform standardization procedures, and monitor the expiry dates of prepared solutions.
  • Accurately record all analytical data, chemical preparations, and standardization activities in designated logbooks to ensure traceability.
  • Perform daily monitoring and calibration of analytical balances, top-loading balances, and rapid moisture analyzers.
  • Input wet chemistry test results into the approved laboratory reporting template.
  • Prepare and issue Certificates of Analysis (COA) and test reports for special samples from prospective suppliers.
  • Update and submit mycotoxin analysis reports after each test performed.
  • Prepare internal quality control samples, conduct required testing, and report results to the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Conduct monthly inventory checks of laboratory glassware, chemicals, and consumables, and initiate requisitions for critical stock items.
  • Monitor chemical expiry dates and facilitate the proper disposal of expired chemicals.
  • Maintain records of equipment defects, repairs, preventive maintenance activities, receipt of laboratory supplies, and breakage incidents.
  • Keep laboratory work instructions updated and ensure all analytical methods are documented and current.
  • Maintain records of chemical waste generated during laboratory analyses for proper third-party disposal.
  • Ensure laboratory cleanliness, orderliness, and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Support the implementation and compliance of the Laboratory Safety Manual.
  • Monitor and record temperature and humidity conditions in the wet chemistry laboratory and equipment areas.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and report any malfunctions to the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Analyze incoming raw materials and finished products using Near-Infrared (NIR) technology and wet chemistry methods as required.
  • Ensure proper turnover and handover of work between shifts or personnel.
  • Carry out assigned laboratory activities under the supervision of the Chemist, as required.

Iii. Qualifications & Attributes

  • Must be a Licensed Chemist or Licensed Chemical Technician
  • Laboratory operations experience is an advantage; however, fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willing to work on a shifting schedule.
  • Demonstrates integrity and possesses good moral character.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Iv. Job Requirements

  • Must be willing to work on a shifting schedule, including weekends and holidays when required.
  • Must submit a valid Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Certificate of Registration and Professional Identification Card (ID).
  • Must be registered with and maintain active membership in the Integrated Chemists of the Philippines (ICP), as applicable.
  • Must comply with company policies, laboratory safety requirements, and quality management standards.
  • Must be physically capable of performing laboratory-related tasks and handling chemicals in accordance with safety procedures.
