The KYC Lead is responsible for overseeing Know Your Customer (KYC) operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading a team that actually understands why KYC exists (not just ticking boxes). This role balances people management, process improvement, and risk controlbecause regulators don't care about excuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the KYC team, ensuring timely and accurate completion of onboarding and periodic reviews
- Act as the subject matter expert on KYC, AML, and CDD/EDD requirements (yes, you need to really know them)
- Review and approve high-risk and complex KYC cases
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and global regulatory standards
- Identify process gaps and drive efficiency improvements (less rework, fewer headaches)
- Liaise with Compliance, Risk, Audit, and other stakeholders as needed
- Support regulatory audits and internal reviewswithout panic
- Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members
- Monitor KPIs, SLAs, and quality metrics to keep things on track
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or a related field
- 58 years of KYC/AML experience, with at least 12 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of KYC, AML, CTF regulations and risk-based approaches
- Experience handling high-risk clients and complex structures
- Prior experience in banking, financial services, or asset management preferred
