Summary:
The Network Operations Engineer will ensure stable and secure operation of the organization's Juniper-based network infrastructure by providing proactive monitoring, timely incident response, effective troubleshooting, and operational support across firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and Mist-managed services.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Network Monitoring and Operations - Monitor the health, availability, and performance of network infrastructure, including Juniper firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and Mist-managed devices.
2. Incident and Problem Management- Handle network incidents, outages, and degradation events in accordance with incident management processes.
3. Configuration and Change Support - Implement approved standard changes on Juniper network devices and validate pre-change and post-change health checks to ensure service stability.
4. Security and Compliance Support- Assist in the operational management of Juniper firewalls by reviewing logs, policy behavior, NAT, VPN status, and security events.
5. Documentation and Reporting - Create and maintain operational documentation, knowledge articles, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
Job Qualifications:
Hands-on experience supporting Juniper network devices, such as: Juniper SRX firewalls, Juniper EX switches, Juniper wireless access points, Juniper Mist cloud-managed networking platform
- Strong understanding of: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Routing and switching fundamentals, VLANs, STP, LACP, trunk/access ports, Firewall concepts, NAT, ACLs, security zones, and policies, VPN concepts and basic troubleshooting, Wireless networking fundamentals (SSID, RF basics, authentication, roaming)
- Ability to use network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as: Ping, traceroute, Packet capture tools, Syslog and event log analysis, Dashboard and monitoring platforms
- Familiarity with ticketing and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of automation/scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, or REST APIs) is a plus.
- Understanding of standard network operation processes including incident, change, problem, and request management.
Required Experience
- 1 to 2 years of experience in network operations, network support, or NOC environments.
- At least 1-2 years of hands-on experience with Juniper technologies in an operational support capacity.
- Experience supporting enterprise or managed services environments with multi-site network infrastructure.
- Exposure to shift-based support, on-call rotations, or 24x7 operations is preferred.
