Junior to Mid Level Database Administrator (DBA) – Job Description

Position Summary We are looking for a Junior Database Administrator (DBA) to support the setup, administration, maintenance, and optimization of database systems. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring database availability, performance, security, and reliability while working closely with the infrastructure and application teams.

Key Responsibilities

● Assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining database environments.

● Perform database setup, configuration, and deployment for new and existing applications.

● Monitor database performance and identify opportunities for optimization.

● Execute routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and health checks.

● Troubleshoot database issues and support incident resolution.

● Assist in database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

● Ensure database security by managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.

● Support database migration, patching, and upgrade activities.

● Create and maintain database documentation, procedures, and operational guides.

● Collaborate with developers and system administrators to ensure database best practices are followed.

Qualifications

● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

● 2–5 years of experience in database administration or a similar role.

● Basic knowledge of relational database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.

● Familiarity with database backup and recovery processes.

● Understanding of SQL scripting, database performance tuning, and optimization concepts.

● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

● Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

● Willing to learn new database technologies and best practices
