About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and ownership-driven Release Engineer with a strong focus on QA and deployment operations.
This is not a traditional software engineering role focused on building new features. Instead, you will ensure that code delivered by freelancers is properly reviewed, tested, and safely deployed across multiple production environments.
You will act as a core operational engineering partner to the Lead Engineer, helping maintain stability, release quality, and deployment consistency across several web applications.
What you'll do
- Reviewing and merging pull requests (PRs) submitted by freelance developers in GitHub
- Managing release cycles and executing deployments across multiple production websites
- Performing QA testing and building automated test coverage using Cypress
- Identifying, logging, and triaging bugs from staging and production environments
- Implementing minor UI fixes and front-end adjustments (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Handling light infrastructure tasks such as:
- AWS environment configuration updates
- Database credential updates
- Deployment configuration changes using AWS CDK
- Working closely with the Lead Engineer as a dedicated internal engineering partner
What You Bring
- 1+ year experience in QA, DevOps, release engineering, or full stack support role
- Strong understanding of end-to-end web application flow (frontend + backend awareness)
- Strong GitHub workflow experience:
- Pull requests
- Branching strategies
- Code reviews and merges
- Conflict resolution
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Cypress experience preferred (or strong willingness to learn quickly)
- Experience in QA testing, regression testing, or automation testing
- Node.js build/deployment experience preferred
- Basic frontend troubleshooting (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT is a plus
