Position Title: Junior Planning Engineer

Department: Project Planning Department

Reports To: Planning Manager / PPD Department / Project Manager

Job Summary

The Junior Planning Engineer supports project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, cost control, billing, and project reporting activities. The role ensures accurate collection and analysis of project data to assist the project team in monitoring performance against approved schedules, budgets, and contractual requirements. This position is ideal for licensed engineers or architects who are eager to develop expertise in construction planning and project controls.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Monitoring

  • Monitor and quantify project progress based on approved schedules and actual site accomplishments.
  • Analyze drawings, plans, and work execution status to determine project progress percentages.
  • Assist in updating project schedules and tracking milestone achievements.
  • Conduct regular site visits to validate reported accomplishments and project status.

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Gather and maintain records of manpower utilization, equipment deployment, and productivity data.
  • Consolidate project performance information for schedule updates and forecasting.
  • Analyze project outputs and prepare detailed progress reports.

Cost Control and Billing

  • Assist in preparing and processing client progress billings based on actual work accomplishments.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, schedules, plans, and related construction records.
  • Generate daily, weekly and monthly progress reports for project management.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely submission of planning-related documents.

Coordination

  • Coordinate with construction, engineering, procurement, and subcontractor teams regarding project progress.
  • Support project teams in identifying schedule concerns and reporting potential delays.

Other Duties

  • Perform other planning, scheduling, and project control functions as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Architecture, or related engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Engineer (PRC) or Licensed Architect preferred.

Experience

  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in construction project planning, project controls, scheduling, or site engineering is an advantage.

Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of construction methods, drawings, and project documentation.
  • Familiarity with quantity take-off and project progress measurement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of Primavera P6, or similar scheduling software is an advantage.

Behavioral Competencies

  • Willingness to learn and develop expertise in construction planning and project controls.
  • Analytical and detail oriented.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong teamwork and coordination skills.
