General Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, creating, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs.
- Work with relational and non-relational databases.
- Support and enhance backend services to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
- Participate in peer code reviews, write unit and integration tests, and adhere to internal coding standards.
- Learn and follow industry regulations around data security, privacy, and compliance.
- Work cross-functionally with teams and communicate technical concepts effectively.
Qualifications
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in at least one backend language: preferably Node.js, Python, or Go.
- Basic knowledge of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL).
- Understanding of API design principles (RESTful or GraphQL).
- Comfortable using Git and modern development workflows.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Team player with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Nice to Haves
- Exposure to backend frameworks like Express (Node), FastAPI (Python), or Gorilla/Mux (Go).
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and containerization (Docker).
- Experience working with or building financial systems, payment gateways, or authentication flows.
- Awareness of data security best practices (e.g., encryption, tokenization, access control).
