IT Business Analyst Intern

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical IT Business Analyst Intern to support our team in gathering business requirements, analyzing process improvements, and assisting with project coordination. This internship offers hands-on experience working with stakeholders, documenting business needs, supporting software development initiatives, and contributing to process optimization projects.

You will gain exposure to business analysis methodologies, requirements management, project planning, testing, and cross-functional collaboration within a technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities

Attend requirements gathering and stakeholder intake sessions, take structured notes, and distribute meeting minutes within 24 hours.
Convert stakeholder requests into clear and well-documented business requirements, including:
Business problem
Current state
Desired future state
Impacted users or stakeholders
Affected systems and applications
Conduct preliminary impact assessments by identifying:
Affected modules and systems
Data dependencies
Involved teams
Downstream business processes
Assist in prioritizing requests based on business impact, urgency, and risk, while documenting rationale for recommendations.
Help create project schedules, timelines, and implementation plans for approved initiatives.
Track requirements backlog status, ownership, open items, and aging requests.
Identify and escalate duplicate, conflicting, or scope-changing requests.
Develop simple process flow diagrams, workflow maps, and data flow documentation.
Assist in creating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios and documenting test defects and findings.
Collaborate with developers, business users, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in:
Information Technology
Computer Science
Computer Engineering
Information Systems
Business Analytics
Related technical discipline

Required Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to document requirements clearly and accurately.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
Willingness to learn business analysis and project management practices.

Preferred Skills

Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Familiarity with business process mapping or workflow documentation.
Knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
Experience using diagramming tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io.
Exposure to UAT, QA testing, or requirements gathering activities.
Basic knowledge of databases, APIs, or system integrations is an advantage.
