Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly analytical Medical Inpatient Coder to join a growing US healthcare team. You will play a vital role in ensuring accurate coding and documentation in accordance with government regulations and insurance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Certified through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CIC, CCS)
- At least 1–2 years of inpatient (IP) medical coding experience
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and healthcare regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with healthcare professionals
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign accurate and properly sequenced medical codes based on clinical documentation, insurance standards, and government regulations
- Ensure compliance with medical coding guidelines, company policies, and healthcare standards
- Review and verify patient charts and medical records for completeness and accuracy
- Coordinate with physicians and other healthcare staff to clarify unclear or incomplete documentation
- Gather and organize physician documentation from multiple sources for reporting purposes
- Prepare and support monthly coding and documentation reports
- Implement effective coding procedures and evaluation methods to maintain coding accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling patient information and records
