Role Description: This is a full-time remote role for an IP Medical Coder with a 90k sign-on bonus and a Work From Home set-up as required by business needs. The IP Medical Coder will review inpatient medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM and PCS codes in accordance with official guidelines, payer rules, and facility policies. Responsibilities include validating clinical documentation for completeness, sequencing diagnoses and procedures correctly, and ensuring coding supports medical necessity and reimbursement requirements. The role involves working closely with clinical documentation specialists, billing teams, and auditors to clarify documentation, resolve coding issues, and reduce denials. The IP Medical Coder will also monitor coding updates, maintain productivity and quality standards, and participate in ongoing education and compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated Coding Experience in inpatient settings with strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and official coding guidelines.
  • Background in Health Information Management, including familiarity with documentation standards, compliance, and record review workflows.
  • Proficiency in Medical Terminology and anatomy/physiology to accurately interpret provider documentation.
  • Formal training in Medical Coding (certificate, diploma, or degree) and experience working with EHR and encoder systems.
  • RHIT or related AHIMA/AAPC certification (e.g., CCS, CCS-P, CPC) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to meet productivity and accuracy benchmarks in a remote environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, follow HIPAA and compliance requirements, and collaborate effectively with clinical and revenue cycle teams.
  • Prior experience in hospital or large health system coding and exposure to RCM or billing workflows is highly beneficial.
