About the Role
We are looking for an Investment & Credit Research Analyst – Australian Fixed Income & Private Markets to join the team of our Australian client, BondAdviser, a leading independent platform specialising in debt capital markets.
This is an excellent opportunity for an analyst with core financial evaluation skills to gain broad exposure across public and private credit, funds research, and portfolio solutions. You'll work closely with the Investment and Research teams, supporting the analysis of investment opportunities and contributing to investment recommendations, fund ratings, private credit research, and portfolio strategies.
What You'll Do
- Analyse credit investment opportunities across public and private markets
- Conduct financial modelling, forecasting, relative value, liquidity, and valuation analysis
- Assess bonds by reviewing risk-reward, legal and capital structures, covenants, and market drivers
- Perform stress testing and scenario analysis across credit portfolios
- Support investment and operational due diligence for managed funds, particularly private credit and commercial real estate debt
- Assist with ongoing surveillance of private credit exposures
- Support the preparation of fund research reports and ratings materials
- Contribute to portfolio strategy and identify investment opportunities
- Conduct research on companies, industries, and macroeconomic trends
- Prepare client presentations and respond to ad hoc research requests
- Work with data and analytics platforms, including AI-assisted research tools, to improve research workflows
- Contribute to periodic publications and research outputs
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Core Competencies: Strong financial statement analysis, Excel modeling, credit risk assessment, clear written English, and solid accounting fundamentals.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Sourcing high-priority candidates from Equity Research, Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Big 4 Deals, or Credit Analysis works because these roles share the same core analytical skills.
- Education & Communication: Degree in Commerce, Economics, Law, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field from a leading university, alongside business-level fluency in spoken and written English.
- Professional Attributes: Strong analytical and quantitative skills with excellent attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and self-motivation.
Desirable Requirements
- CFA program progress
- Prior experience in fixed income, private credit, or Bloomberg terminal usage
- Experience conducting research and due diligence, plus familiarity with portfolio management
Trainable Areas (Willingness to Develop)
- Australian bond market rules, specific proprietary methodologies, and coding languages like Python or SQL
- Working knowledge or adaptability to modern AI research tools and platforms
