Core responsibilities
Research & conviction-building
- Conduct deep, bottoms-up research on Philippine and SEA markets not summaries, original theses with a point of view
- Build clear theses: what's changing, why now, why this team, why this wedge, what breaks.
- Build and maintain a living sector knowledge base that sharpens our pattern recognition over time
Financial Modeling
- Build models from a blank sheet unit economics, CAC/LTV, payback, contribution margin, runway, burn multiple, financing scenarios
- Every assumption defensible. Every output decision-ready
Pipeline ownership
- Run inbound triage, first-pass screens, and CRM hygiene with zero tolerance for data gaps
- Maintain diligence checklists and own active deal status end-to-end
Daily reporting and Team cadence
- Publish a daily update to keep decisions moving:
- Updating of reports, status, valuations
- Active diligence status, blockers, and next actions
Communication
- Write IC memos that lead with a thesis and defend it not recaps of what the founder said.
- Publish concise daily deal updates that keep decisions moving and surface blockers before they compound
Job Qualifications
- 24 years in VC, PE, investment banking, equity research, or a comparably rigorous investing or transaction role
- You've built financial models from scratch under real pressure and can defend every line
- You write with precision. One page that drives a decision beats five pages that describe the situation..
- High follow-through. You close loops without being asked.
- Proven experience in conducting market landscape analysis, including identifying trends, white spaces, incumbent moves, etc.
- Clear communicator in writing and verbally; can translate complexity into decisions.
Nice to Have:
- Direct early-stage investing experience across the full cycle: screen diligence memo close
- Familiarity with Philippine or Southeast founder ecosystemsComfort with lightweight automation (Sheets formulas, basic scripting, dashboards).
- Ability to build lightweight tooling Sheets dashboards, basic automation, structured trackers
