Hi! Were Smartsourcing, and were looking for an Intermediate AU Tax Accountant to join our growing Cebu team. In this role, you'll support our Senior Accountants in Cebu and Melbourne, delivering accurate tax returns and accounting services for both investment and business clients. You'll also play a key role in mentoring junior staff while keeping compliance obligations running smoothly and on time.

Your Role as Intermediate AU Tax Accountant

As an Intermediate AU Tax Accountant, you will support our Senior Accountants and associated team members in Cebu and Melbourne by preparing tax returns, financial accounts, and compliance reports for our Australian client. You'll handle day-to-day client queries, deliver accurate work by target deadlines, while ensuring smooth operations for our accounting services. You'll ensure high-quality accounting outcomes while building client trust and team capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge tax returns for Companies, Trusts, Partnerships, and Individuals
• Prepare financial accounts with notes, reconciliations, and workpapers to compliance standards
• Import and process accounting data from client software, bank statements, and source documents
• Prepare BAS/IAS, PAYG, FBT, and EOFY reports
• Work on CGT and Div7A calculations with the AU team
• Post year-end journals, prepare tax reconciliations, and resolve review notes
• Draft client billing and conduct WIP analysis
• Mentor junior team members and support knowledge development
• Contribute to process improvements, efficiency, and team collaboration

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience working with an Australian accounting firm, providing tax compliance services to Australian clients (AU Tax experience preferred).
• Must have extensive background in tax compliance and the ability to deliver strong business advisory and compliance work.
• Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Experience using web-based accounting packages such as Xero.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent time and task management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Able to work independently and productively in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
