As an Intermediate Payroll Specialist, you are the engine behind accurate and compliant employee experience. This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional who understands that payroll is more than just numbers it's about compliance, legislative integrity, and supporting a workforce of approximately 150 employees. Working remotely, you will manage the full payroll lifecycle, ensuring every timesheet is verified and every superannuation payment is on time.
Your Impact
End-to-End Payroll Processing: Take ownership of the weekly payroll run for 150 employees using Tanda. You will be responsible for reconciliation, processing superannuation, and posting precise payroll journals into Sage Intacct.
Time & Attendance Mastery: Act as the daily administrator for Tanda. You will proactively review timesheets for inconsistencies, following up with managers regarding missing leave forms or unusual approvals to ensure data integrity before the pay run.
Compliance & Tax Oversight: Calculate and process monthly ACT Payroll Tax. You will monitor superannuation compliance and maintain impeccable digital records that meet Australian regulatory standards.
Leave & Benefits Management: Monitor and maintain employee leave balances, including weekly tracking and the preparation of month-end leave movement journals. You will also manage workers compensation notifications and administrative requirements.
People & Professional Development: Support employee onboarding and track staff certifications, coordinating necessary training before credentials expire.
Finance Team Support: Provide vital administrative assistance to the CFO and Senior Accountant, including high-level support for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processing.
What You Bring
The Experience:2-3+ years of experience in a dedicated payroll or bookkeeping role. You have a proven track record of meeting strict weekly and monthly deadlines.
Technical Mastery: Highly regarded experience with Tanda (Time & Attendance) and Sage Intacct (Finance). You must be proficient in preparing journals and performing complex payroll-to-bank reconciliations.
Legislative Knowledge: A strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation compliance, and specific state-based requirements like ACT Payroll Tax.
The Mindset: An uncompromising sharp eye for detail. You are someone who catches discrepancies in timesheets before they become errors and has the interpersonal confidence to follow up with managers for clarification.
Communication Prowess: Excellent written and verbal English skills, essential for resolving payroll queries and collaborating with a remote finance team.
