YOUR ROLE
L2 Database engineers manage a company's flow of information. They perform Database administration tasks including monitoring, maintenance of Databases to prevent system outages, ensure high quality Database availability, reporting and day to day management under minimal guidance from the Senior DBA. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and assistance.
- Ability to implement disaster recovery and high availability, Establish a disaster recovery protocol.
- Working hours are 40 hours a week, Rotating schedule typically include regular unsocial hours. Overnight, Holidays and weekend work.
- Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design.
- Communication, Teamwork, negotiation skills, problem-solving and good analytical skills.
- Create accounts for all users and assign security levels.
- Participate in company's cross-training program
- Writing database documentation, including data standards and procedures
- Working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and DCM
- Develop monitoring, alerting and reporting capabilities.
- Identify mission critical production jobs and troubleshoot application issues
- Plan and perform Database updates and upgrades.
- Provide 24/7 support as needed.
- Follow established policies and procedures.
- Advance scripting skill and ETL
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Basic knowledge on Operating system.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree related to computer studies.
- Certificate is an advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in maintaining PostgreSQL and MySQL Database systems
- With experience working in Unix/Linux operating systems
- With experience working with global enterprise environment
- With experience in deploying at least two of the following infrastructure architectures: PostgreSQL 14.x, MySQL 8.x
- Intermediate Performance optimization skillset
- High availability and disaster recovery
- Good troubleshooting skills. Logical thinker and good analytical skills.
- Understanding of computer software, databases and programming.
- Excellent written/spoken English language
- Able to work off own initiative. Ability to multitask and excellent time management skills.
- Able to own an issue and see it through to resolution
- Possess problem solving skill, conflict resolution, decision making and planning skills
