YOUR ROLE
Responsible for UNIX system administration of host systems and related devices including monitoring and maintenance of operating systems to prevent system outages and ensure high quality system availability. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO
- Evaluate, develop, and maintain operating systems.
- Provide change management support.
- Create and maintain documentation for monitoring systems, processes and creation of hardware devices.
- Diagnose and resolve server problems, perform systems updates and back-ups.
- Maintain system security, system back-ups and provide technical support.
- Ensure server support and maintain high system availability.
- Ensure security protocol updates
- Coordinate efforts with technology staff from multi-environment application (application/system/functional).
- Install and repair of operating systems server related hardware and software.
- Identify mission critical production jobs and troubleshoot end-user issues.
- Monitor performance and administration of operating systems upgrades.
- Provide on-call 24/7 support as needed.
- Follow established policies and procedures; determine and recommend potential enhancements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred or 2-7 years relevant work experience is required.
- Minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience supporting UNIX OS versions, including Red Hat and Solaris.
- Minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience Implementing and supporting core infrastructure services (UNIX Server, UNIX Failover Clustering, AD, DNS, DHCP) and well versed in; server hardware, provisioning techniques, FC based shared storage, Clustering, performance monitoring and analysis, etc.

- Storage Experience (EMC, HDS, HP, etc.)
- Veritas Clustering
- Steeleye Data Keeper
- Oracle experience
- VMware/Hyper-V
- Excellent oral communication and customer relations skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact at all levels of the organisations hierarchy.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills. Logical thinker, good analytical skills
- Possess problem solving, conflict resolution, decision making, and planning skills
- Able to own an issue and see it through to resolution
- Able to work off own initiative. Ability to multitask and excellent time management skills
- Produce Technical documentation.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures.
- Excellent Written/ Spoken English language
