Role Description

The Interior Designer I (Senior Designer) / Architect will be part of Arcadis Global Excellence Centre (GEC), supporting high-profile retail, mixed-use, commercial, and customer-facing interior projects. The role requires extensive experience in interior detailing, with a strong emphasis on joinery and millwork design, including custom fixtures, cabinetry, display systems, counters, feature walls, furniture elements, and construction interfaces. The successful candidate will lead the development of detailed design documentation, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, and deliver technically robust, buildable solutions that align with client, brand, operational, and commercial requirements.

Role Accountabilities

  • Lead the delivery of retail and mixed-use interior design packages from concept through construction and site support.
  • Prepare and coordinate layouts, interior elevations, sections, details, schedules, and construction documentation.
  • Develop and review detailed joinery and millwork drawings, including cabinetry, counters, display units, feature walls, and custom fixtures.
  • Translate brand standards, customer experience objectives, and operational requirements into practical design solutions.
  • Coordinate closely with Architecture, MEP, Lighting, Signage, Structural, Fire Safety, and Cost Consultant teams.
  • Review drawings and documentation for technical accuracy, buildability, quality, and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Lead or support design reviews, coordination meetings, workshops, and client presentations.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to design quality, technical consistency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve design risks, technical issues, and coordination challenges to support project delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in interior design, architecture, or technical design documentation, preferably within retail, mixed-use, commercial, workplace, or hospitality projects.
  • Strong expertise in joinery and millwork detailing, including custom fixtures, cabinetry, display systems, furniture elements, material transitions, and construction interfaces.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit with the ability to produce and coordinate detailed technical drawing packages.
  • Strong understanding of retail design standards, accessibility requirements, life safety principles, and building codes.
  • Experience with interior elevations, sections, FF&E schedules, finishes schedules, and fit-out documentation.
  • Knowledge of SketchUp, Enscape, or similar visualization software is an advantage.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, quality control, and stakeholder management skills, with experience guiding junior team members and managing multiple deadlines.
