TheIntegration Engineer is proficient in the core aspects of designing, developing, and maintaining Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Their primary focus is on creating interfaces that allow different software systems to communicate with each other, enabling the exchange of data and functionality. He/She often works closely with product teams to understand requirements and design efficient, scalable, and secure APIs.
Key Responsibilities:
Leads the development of API solutions that streamline and improve SBC's operations and products.
Ensures the production of high-quality code that aligns with engineering standards and best practices.
Implements performance improvement measures to deliver best-in-class services to the business.
Contributes to performance optimization efforts for API services.
Qualifications:
Understands RESTful APIs architectural principles. This includes knowledge of HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE), status codes, resource identification, and designing resources and endpoints that adhere to REST principles.
Can model and structure data in a way that makes sense for the API's purpose. This includes designing logical data models, defining relationships between data entities, and ensuring data integrity and consistency
Understands various authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth, API keys, JWT (JSON Web Tokens), and role-based access control (RBAC).
Can document APIs effectively to provide clear and comprehensive information for API consumers
Can design APIs that are performant and scalable, capable of handling high volumes of requests and ensuring minimal response times
