About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Insurance Verification Specialist. In addition to performing standard insurance verification duties, this role will serve as a key communication point within multiple client team channels, ensuring timely responses, follow-ups, and coordination across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Insurance Verification Duties
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, coverage, and authorization requirements.
- Contact insurance companies via phone, portal, or email to obtain accurate benefit information.
- Document insurance details accurately in the client's systems.
- Identify coverage issues and communicate findings promptly.
- Verify copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket responsibilities.
- Ensure all patient insurance information is current and accurate.
- Assist with prior authorization verification when applicable.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and client policies.
Client Communication & Coordination Duties
- Actively monitor multiple client communication channels and team chats throughout the workday.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries, requests, and updates.
- Follow up on pending tasks, requests, and insurance-related concerns.
- Coordinate with different departments to ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
- Escalate urgent concerns to appropriate team members when necessary.
- Provide status updates and maintain visibility on assigned tasks.
- Proactively identify potential issues and communicate solutions or next steps.
- Support workflow coordination between client teams and internal staff.
Qualifications:
Required
- At least 1 year of experience in healthcare insurance verification, medical billing, or a related healthcare administrative role.
- Strong understanding of insurance eligibility verification and benefit investigation.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and online communication tools.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
Preferred
- Experience working with U.S.-based healthcare providers.
- Experience as a Healthcare Virtual Assistant (HVA) or Medical Virtual Assistant.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems.
- Knowledge of prior authorizations and medical billing processes.
