Insurance Accountant

Gallium31 is looking for an Insurance Accounting professional to support one of our enterprise clients in the life insurance industry, based in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig.

This role is suited for an accounting professional with solid bookkeeping and general accounting experience, strong knowledge of financial controls, and exposure to insurance accounting, audit, and taxation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform day-to-day insurance accounting and bookkeeping activities
• Prepare and post journal entries and accounting adjustments
• Perform general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliations
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities
• Review accounting transactions for completeness, accuracy, and proper classification
• Maintain accounting schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and outstanding items
• Support tax-related accounting activities and compliance requirements
• Prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audit requirements
• Ensure accounting records comply with established policies, controls, and applicable accounting standards
• Coordinate with Finance and other business units to resolve accounting-related concerns
• Support improvements to accounting processes, controls, and documentation

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field
• CPA is preferred but not required
• At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in bookkeeping and accounting
• Experience or exposure to the life insurance or broader insurance industry is an advantage
• Internal and/or external audit exposure is preferred
• Background or exposure to IFRS 4 and/or current insurance accounting standards is an advantage

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

• Familiarity with Sun GL / SunSystems accounting applications is preferred
• Familiarity with Philippine tax laws and regulations
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping and general accounting principles
• Proficient in Windows-based applications
• Above-average Microsoft Excel skills
• Familiarity with journal entries, account reconciliations, financial schedules, and closing activities
