Job Summary:
The Instrumentation and Control Engineer is responsible for the
design, specification, implementation, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems for mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems. The role ensures reliable
measurement, automation, interlocking, and integration of HVAC equipment, fans, pumps, power systems, and safety systems with
PLC, DCS, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
This position plays a key role in ensuring
system reliability, safety, energy efficiency, and compliance with project specifications and applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop
control philosophies, sequences of operation, and functional descriptions for HVAC, ventilation, pumping, and auxiliary systems
Prepare And Review:
- Control schematics and wiring diagrams
- Loop diagrams and termination drawings
- I/O lists and point schedules
- Instrument datasheets and specifications
Select Appropriate:
- Sensors (temperature, pressure, flow, humidity, level)
- Transmitters and switches
- Control valves, actuators, and field devices
- PLC / DDC / Control Systems
Design And Configure:
- PLC / DDC hardware architecture
- Remote I/O panels and control panels
Develop Or Review:
- PLC programs and logic diagrams
- Interlocks and permissive logic
- Alarm and trip settings
Coordinate Integration Using:
- BACnet, Modbus, TCP/IP, LonWorks, OPC, etc.
- BMS & Systems Integration
Interface Control Systems With:
- Building Management System (BMS)
- SCADA or central monitoring platforms
Define:
- Point naming conventions
- Alarm priorities and trends
- Graphic requirements
Support Testing Of:
- Low-level controllers
- High-level supervisory systems
- Fire Protection & Life Safety Interlocks
Design and verify
interlocks between control systems and fire alarm systems, including:
- HVAC shutdown on fire
- Smoke exhaust and pressurization fans
- Fire and smoke dampers
Prepare And Review:
- Cause & Effect matrices
- Life safety control sequences
Ensure compliance with
NFPA and local fire codes.
- Construction, Installation & Commissioning Support
Review shop drawings and technical submittals.
Provide Technical Guidance During:
- Installation of instruments and control panels
- Field wiring and termination
Lead Or Support:
- Loop checking
- I/O testing
- Functional testing and integrated system testing
Participate in
commissioning and performance verification.
Prepare And Maintain:
- As-built drawings
- Control logic documentation
- Operation and maintenance manuals
Ensure Compliance With:
- Project specifications
- Client standards
- International and local codes
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors Degree In:
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
Experience:
More than 2 years experience in:
- Instrumentation and control systems
- PLC / DDC based automation
- HVAC and building systems (preferred for your scope)
Experience In:
- Data centers, commercial buildings, or industrial plants is an advantage
