Insights and Analytics Junior Analyst

About The Role

As an Insights & Analytics (I&A) Junior Analyst, you will help ensure that PayMongo's data, dashboards, and reports are accurate, reliable, and useful for decision-making.

You will work with stakeholders across Product, Finance, Commercial, Operations, Marketing, and Risk & Compliance, giving you broad exposure to how data supports different parts of a fast-growing fintech company.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their analytics career who enjoys working with data, solving problems, understanding why numbers behave the way they do, and turning information into clear and reliable insights.

What You'll Do

Keep Our Dashboards and Reports Reliable

You will help maintain the dashboards and recurring reports used by teams across PayMongo.

You Will:

• Check that dashboards and reports contain accurate and up-to-date data.
• Validate metrics, filters, calculations, and visualizations.
• Investigate inconsistencies or unexpected changes in reported numbers.
• Help ensure teams use consistent metric definitions.
• Support improvements to existing dashboards and reporting processes.
  
  

Analyze Data and Investigate Problems

You'll use data to answer business questions and help investigate situations where something doesn't look right.

You Will:

• Write and improve SQL queries for analysis and data validation.
• Investigate unusual trends, discrepancies, or anomalies in data.
• Check data sources, joins, filters, and assumptions to identify potential causes.
• Produce clear and reproducible analysis that others can review and use.
• Work with Data Engineering when issues require deeper technical investigation.
  
  

Help Build a Reliable Measurement Foundation

Good analytics depends on everyone understanding what the data means. You'll help PayMongo maintain clear and consistent definitions across teams.

You Will:

• Help maintain our data dictionary and metric definitions.
• Document how important business metrics are calculated.
• Maintain clear records of data sources, assumptions, and known limitations.
• Help ensure different teams interpret and use important metrics consistently.
  
  

Support Reporting for Leadership and Key Stakeholders

You will contribute to recurring reports used by PayMongo's leadership and other key stakeholders.

You Will:

• Prepare and validate weekly and monthly reporting packs.
• Help explain changes and variances in important business metrics.
• Support reporting requirements for leadership, investors, and regulatory or compliance stakeholders.
• Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, consistent, and traceable to reliable data sources.
  
  

Help Improve and Automate Analytics Processes

As you grow in the role, you will also have opportunities to work with Data Engineering and Business Transformation to make recurring analytics and reporting processes more efficient.

You May Help:

• Identify repetitive reporting or monitoring activities that can be automated.
• Define what an automated report or workflow needs to accomplish.
• Test automated outputs against existing reports and data.
• Monitor automated workflows after they are launched.
• Document processes so they can be reliably maintained.
  
  

Tools You'll Work With

You will gain hands-on experience with PayMongo's analytics and collaboration tools, including:

• SQL / Amazon Redshift — data extraction, validation, and analysis
• Amazon QuickSight — dashboards and reporting
• Google Sheets — analysis, validation, and structured reporting
• GitHub — analytics requests, documentation, and change tracking
• KNIME — workflow automation and prototyping
• Google Docs and Slides — documentation and stakeholder reporting
  
  

You don't need to be an expert in every tool from day one. We're looking for someone with the right analytical foundations and the ability to learn and work systematically.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone early in their analytics career who is curious, detail-oriented, structured, and dependable.

You will likely thrive in this role if you have:

• Basic to intermediate SQL skills and an understanding of how to query and validate data.
• Good working knowledge of spreadsheets, particularly Google Sheets or Excel.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and an instinct to investigate when numbers don't look right.
• Strong written communication and documentation skills.
• The ability to explain your analysis, assumptions, and findings clearly.
• A reliable approach to deadlines and recurring deliverables.
• The ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.
• A willingness to learn new analytics tools and business concepts.
  
  

Nice to Have

Experience or familiarity with any of the following would be helpful, but isn't required:

• Business intelligence or visualization tools such as QuickSight, Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
• GitHub or similar collaboration/version-control tools
• KNIME or other workflow automation tools
• Fintech, payments, e-commerce, or financial services data
• Business metrics such as transaction volume, fees, refunds, disputes, payouts, or reconciliation
• A/B testing or basic experiment measurement

Success in this role means becoming someone the organization can rely on for accurate data, dependable reporting, and well-structured analysis.

Over time, you will help PayMongo maintain healthier dashboards, diagnose data issues faster, improve the consistency of business metrics, deliver reliable recurring reports, and reduce manual work through better processes and automation.

Just as importantly, you will build a strong foundation in business analytics, SQL, data quality, reporting, and stakeholder management that can support your continued growth as an analyst.

Team & Reporting

The Insights & Analytics Junior Analyst reports to the Insights & Analytics Lead within Operations and works closely with other I&A team members and Data Engineering.

You will also collaborate with teams across Finance, Product, Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Risk & Compliance, and Engineering.

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
